"All of us must be ready to obey any instructions we may receive, whether or not these are Bible based or appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not."
Is the "bible- based" part factual?
there are over 8 million jdubs and i would venture a guess that at least 20% to 30% are pimo.
in my opinion, the kingdom hauls are only half full for two reasons....many have left but the majority are pimo and any little excuse will keep them home and they will report their token ghost hours in service.
all it takes to stay home is being tired, too much school homework or i will go next week, no doubt many have taken part-time jobs and the fear of working the second shift and the guilt of missing meetings is gone.

i'm watching the new netflix movie "come sunday".
it's one more film about a person who has turning point in life that demands the person to reevaluate his own faith and belief system.
in this case, the man is a petencostal bishop that gets very famous and has a big church preaching about salvation to heaven and punishment in hell.

I was wondering, is it possible one day we see a big $ production based maybe on CoC of Ray Franz? The story is much much better than the one in this netflix movie, and since CoC is a long time published book, the Org wouldn't be able to shut the production. Imagine how many JWs have Netflix accounts, the temptation to sneak in the APOSTATE movie? Of course the Org would make all the threatens (disguised as advices) but c'mmon, IT WOULD BE A EX GOVERNING BODY (actually I believe no more than 10% of the JWs know there were ever a GB member that ended up disfellowshipped). Or if they made it a series, with the Ray Franz plot as the center, but with episodes focused maybe in Penton, or Carl Olof Johnson. It would be an apostate Hit.
I really think that, even tough information is free today, that would be a punch the Org wouldn't recover.
PS: I've pictured a movie based on CoC many times, I'd die for hearing the song FREEDOM by Anthony Hamilton (from Django) as the main theme. The lyrics also move me a lot, as I'm a PIMO.
picture 185,000 people on the streets attending the biggest event in long beach.
there is a main downtown street which is the only way into the grand prix.
it’s chaos because it is not private property that can be contained; these are working boulevards with cars and people vying to get where they want to go.
Even awake now, having pioneered some years ago (before carts, JW.Org, big screens in conventions and TV JW) I feel fooled when remember the sacrifices I had to make in order to complete my 70 hrs, and now they just play statue for one week and voila, you are the month employee.
i have once commented under the topic "are you better off as a worldly person or a jw?
i am a born-in but left nearly a year ago at age 16. i would say when i was a jw and was still fully convinced that it is the truth, i was happier.
i have a hope then.
I can assure you that this phase is normal, I believe everybody who ever found TTATT has passed through moments wondering "if I'm not a JW what I am". It's not wrong to ask this, just be patient and you will get the answer. If you end up being an atheist, so it is. If you find a halfway that fits you better, gives U some kind of spiritual peace, so go on.
you start listening to music deemed "unsuitable for christians".
you pretend to knock on the doors.
you explain a jw teaching to someone and realize how ridiculous it sounds.
You are pretty sure you won't die for not taking blood.
since there's debate here about wether the literal interpretation of the 14400k could be changed to symbolic, i was thinking such an announcement would allow for any jw to claim to be going to heaven... in which case i wonder how many jws would suddenly claim to have "been called"?.
i can think of many arrogant holier than thou types who would be jumping on that bandwagon immediately!
.
There is no such thing as two separate classes of Christians.
All christians are equal but some christians are more equal than others.
hi guys, it's been a while since i've posted here.
i've already made a topic making a comparison between the org and a totalitarian government based on orwell's animal farm.
Bobcat, exactly that. It's impressive how it can be hard to see a truth after years hearing a lie.

Now, basing on another work of his, 1984, I noticed another comparison. In this novel, he tells us about how the totalitarian government of the story control the people with something called DOUBLETHINK that summarizing is "to keep two opposite and conflitant ideas on your mind and accept both of them." When I read the novel, I didnt really understand how it was possible, and I concluded that it wasn't. Well, this month, in the middle week meeting, we studied Matthew 24. I ran a search on google on the subject and I found an article (in portuguese) with a way more sofisticated and reasonable explanation of this.
It said, in a not very long text, that Jesus was talking about TWO different happenings, 1) the destruction of Jerusalém and 2) the judgement day. It put very clear the differences:
The destruction of jerusalém: There would be a signal like wars and diseases; the gospel woulbe be preached and it would occur in that generation.
The judgement day: Nobody can know when is it, the christians should keep on the watch, the world would be proclaiming "peace", not "wars and diseases".
In a few words: Jesus was telling very clearly WHEN Jerusalém would fall while hiding when the world would end. The point is, the JW are taught that He was talking all the time about the same event.
So, it's clearly two different "days", with diffrerent, sometimes opposite characteristics. I think, how I never saw this before? I know the flaws of the org for a long time but I never had seen this. They teach two opposite ideas at the same time. It's the best example of Orwell's doublethink I can think of. Almost 8 million people have at this very moment these opposite ideas on their mind AND THEY ACCEPT BOTH. Creepy. Looks like Orwell was prophet after all.
PS: Good news, after "great tribulation" I made clear to my parents and my girlfriend that the org is not holy and we can't trust it as we trust God. There's no talks about leaving yet, but these things take time. I think important to see now they questioning what they read and listen, and simply not doing things they understand as simply manmade rules.
don’t know if it was part of the script.. at the memorial the remark about growing annointed numbers including this numbers from 2015 to 2017 was made (from 13.000 to 18.000+).. reason for the growing numbers could be:.
- feeling annointed because of former believe.
- psychical reasons.
It's interesting that it was even mentioned in your KHs. Here the speaker didn't even start to talk about 'how many are still left'. It was a good speech, even though the Rutherfordisms were present.
thats my question.
i mean because here in brazil there's a huge ban in any religious content that doesn't come from the gb, and that includes songs, of course.
thus, it doesn't matter how beautiful or touching a gospel song is, you will never see a brazilian jw singing (not for real, in front of others) or even lesser quoting it.
Hi guys, I haven't posted here for a couple of months but I'm back now.
I don't know if you have already watched the JW Broadcasting of December (it actually was the first of three parts of the annual meeting), but there was two things that called my attention.
The most conspicuous one was Gerrit Losch starting his talk singing in the song's familiar melody "oh happy day...".
Well, is this a big deal? thats my question. I believe this song Oh Happy Day is a "religious" song, right? (When Jeeesus Washed..) So, I got really shocked when I saw him singing this phrase (one may say he didn't sing anything but at least it was a obvious reference). Until then, it was unthinkable for me to see an elder make a link to any famous religious song in a public talk, then I saw the GB member do it 'in front of the world'.
My question is: Is it a taboo in the US too, to the point to hardcore JW get bothered when seeing this?
To be honest, I actually liked that.
The second point was: Samuel Herd was the "president"( I don't know how you call the guy who introduces the talks, here we call president) of the meeting. So, there was plenty of moments that he said things and the audience laughed a lot. I understood that they were jokes. What's the matter? Well, everybody laughed but him. Here kept his solid face all the time. I couldn't help to think he could not be joking at all. He could be just saying things for real and the audience was laughing because if they took it actually there would be tension.
The first "joke-or-is-it" case was when he first said that the students had many good teachers in the course, and mentioned some of them. Then he said something about ones that wasn't so good as the teachers and mentioned himself. Everybody laughed, he didn't. My first impression was that he was making a public complain for the GB not to have assigned him to be a teacher in the course.
The second case, that reinforced my impressions was: He was introducing (or was it in the end? anyway...) Gerrit Losch and said something like "Brother Losch is the oldest member of the GB". Allright, but then he adds this "He's the oldest because he has more time in the GB, not because of his age. The oldest member actually is me." Again, laughs from everywhere but his mouth. For me it was pretty clear that it was added by him. The script only told him to say that GL was the oldest, the rest was himself talking. Joining this two points and all the other "jokes" I believe that he was actually PISSED with something in the GB, maybe because they aren't giving him much publicy, and he (as an IMPERFECT human being) believes he deserves more recognition. If it is true, well, finally all the "publicity" they are gathering is paying off (In what other way would we get to know this issues if they didn't put this on the internet?)
What do you think guys? Did you watch the JW BR of December? It's strange to say it here, but, I recommend. This month is hilarious.
